Headaches are among the most common reasons for a medical visit.  90% of people experience at least 1 headache per year and it is estimated that at least 45 million Americans suffer from chronic headaches.  You should make an appointment to see your doctor if you are experiencing more than 1 or 2 headaches per month or if you have any of the warning signs listed below.

Warning Signs - seek medical attention immediately

  1. Abrupt, severe headache (especially if you’ve never had headaches before)

  2. Headache with fever, stiff neck, rash, confusion, seizures, weakness, numbness, or difficulty speaking

  3. Headache after recent sore throat or respiratory infection

  4. Headache after recent head injury

  5. Changes in your chronic headache symptoms

  6. New headaches if you are over age 55
